I had a terrible day today. We have had the plans all week to go skiing this weekend. Last night we packed our bags and got our clothes ready. But during the night it began to rain. The wind begin to blow and blow, and still we didn’t give up our plans. This morning we got up at 7:00. We ate a quick breakfast and prepared to go to the ski area. As we were walking out of the house, our next-door neighbor stopped us. She gestured that we should come over look at her window. I was very disappointed to find my beach umbrella had broken her window. It seems the high wind from last night’s storm had picked up the umbrella and a shot it through her window like a spear. So we had to spend an hour and a half rounding up something to make a makeshift window. Tomorrow I have to take the window frame to the glass shop and have a new glass put in. I hope it’s not too expensive.
With the window finally repaired, we went to the ski area. Just as we had feared, it was raining so hard that we were unable to ski. Everyone was disappointed. So we decided to go into the city to watch a movie. My kids wanted to watch Spy Kids, but it wasn’t playing anywhere. So then we decided to have dinner in a nice restaurant. It was a Western-style restaurant called steak 1. The third was good, but although we’ve got our children the kids meals, they would only eat Jell-O.
What a disappointing day. The only thing that save the day from being a total disaster is that my favorite TV show off is on in a few minutes. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a great show, and after that is Angel. I have to go to make my hot chocolate now, so I’ll talk to you later.
update:
January 28, 2002 I took the window to the glass shop today and had a new glass put in. It cost me 6300 yen. I took the window back to her house and installed it. I thought I was finished. When she looked at the window she was upset. It seems I had put in the wrong type of glass. Therefore, tomorrow or maybe Wednesday I have to take the window back to the glass shop and having another glass, the correct type this time, put in.
January 30th, 2002 I had the new glass put in, and it only cost me 1500 yen. We are thinking about going skiing in tomorrow, if the weather is good.
