Trip to Branson

April 26th, 2002

One of the Bridges of Rural Missouri

There were Farms and Animals

We got up this morning and went over too Mom’s house to try and convince JC to go with us to Branson.  I thought it would be good for us to spend some real family time together... you know, travel, see some shows, eat good food, water parks and go-karts, etc... but he wanted no part of it. Opting instead to stay in Herrin to eat cake or some such thing. I mean, really, we have the opportunity to spend time together for a total of 4 days in 2 years and he blows us off... sigh.

But this is not the story of how often JC rejects us... rather it is the story of our family trip to Branson, MO.

We left from John’s house in the morning and drove Sikeston, MO. to trade cars with Erik’s wife, Jamie, in the parking lot of Walmart (she works there in the Pharmacy). After the trade, we headed out for Branson.  We had chosen to go via the southern route to see the country and national parks... unfortunatly, the southern is all narrow, winding, hilly roads with speed limits of 35MPH.  Up and down and up and down and around and sudden hill and dip and my stomach was in knots. I was about to lose my McRib sandwich when we saw a dollar store.  We pulled in and got me some Dramimine. Two pills and my stomach was all settled.  Good stuff!

Still at 35MPH the drive took us forever and we didn’t arrive at out hotel till almost 10 at night. We weren’t sleepy (still on Japan time) but we were worn out from the drive and cranking at each other... so we just checked in and watched TV till we went to sleep.
