Some of you may notice that Mary is not in the picture. Due to the fact that they scheduled the festival on the same day as the Yochien Bazaar, Mary had to work at the Kindergarten. So she snuck away to watch and take pics... but didn’t have time to dress up.
Every year we enter the SIUC-N (or as it is called now: The Illinois Academy) Halloween Festival. Every year it gets smaller and less enjoyable, but it is a good opportunity to network with potential students and a chance to show off my cute kids. As always, the weather connspired against the festival planners and the event was held indoors in a meeting room. There were just a few families there. The participants were fewer than last year so the whole contest took less than half an hour.

The Award Ceremony
My family took second place. We were beat out by a couple of really cute little girls in Fairy costumes.
I worry about the festival. It’s obvious that interest in it has dwindled. In years past, all manner of townsfolk joined the event. Now it is all but being ignored. It barely rated a mention in the town newsletter. If anybody out there has any influence with SIUC give them a call. Mention that all the people who are whining that the Nakajo school is a financial sinkhole should be working to promote the school within the community. Let’s bring back it’s former glory.
