Going to America

March 22nd, 2002

We’re gone.  Goodbye Japan.  We are on our way to America.  We left on the early train to Narita and got to Jeff’s house and in bed by about 3:30 AM (next day). It was a long trip with a few surprises so wait a few minutes while the sound file loads and then listen to our traveler’s story.

On the Morning Train

Going to Niigata

Mary Tied to Kyler

We have to recheck out bags

Security has Increased since the 9-11 attacks

These guys stopped me and searched me because I had a can of candy in my pocket and it set off the scanners. My mistake.

My Dad was waiting up for us

Family in Marissa
At 2 AM

Jim Tied to Dusty in Tokyo

Changed Planes in Chicago

This is where we had the trouble.  We missed our connecting flight and had to wait 3 more flights to get confirmed seats. We couldn’t fly standby with 5 people.  We played, ate, shopped, and tried to get messages to my brother that we were going to be late.  5 hours is a long time in an airport.

Missed our Flight
Waited 5 hours for next one

Jeff and JC met us at STL

Dad and Peg are pretty perky after midnight for old folks

We made it.  After getting to St.Louis we went to Denny’s for a late dinner. The food was great.  Then we went to my dad’s house in Marissa and got the Buick. We got caught up on the news and then went to Jeff’s for the first night in America.
