Branson Day 2

April 27th, 2002

The World’s Largest Banjo

Breakfast at Texico

We got up at aroung 10AM and went for a walk to find food. We tried the hotel restaraunt, but it didn’t open till lunch. We saw the world’s largest banjo and took a walk down the street. We stopped in at a Texico Gas Station and had a choice of either donuts or fruit pies for breakfast. We ate donuts and drank soda (I had milk because I’m old and can’t handle the sugar rush anymore).

Our first real activity, unless eating and walking around aimlessly counts as activity, was to play a round of mini-golf.  I was still wearing my pajamas and a jacket, but I didn’t care... they were designated as golf pants and the game began.  Dusty got into the game quickly, while Kyler was a bit baffled by it. We were having a good time when the baby suddenly woke up with a poopy diaper.  Dusty go really upset when we had to step aside and let several teams play though while Mary changed the diaper.  He thought they were taking our turns.  He felt much better when, later on, he won the game with quite a few lucky shots... grrrrr.

Playing Minigolf in the Morning

After Golf we went the nearest ticket outlet and got seats for
‘Kirby VanBurch’ a magic show that they recommended.  They wanted to give us free tickets but we would have had to spend the afternoon listening to a sales pitch for timeshare condos to qualify. Yeh, right... I’ll spend the $150 and enjoy my vacation, thank you very much.

At the Hotel Waterpark

Next to the hotel is an indoor water park. We spent a couple hours there.  It is heated and there were just a few other people.  It was very comfortable. It’s a school day, Yah!

Every few Minutes, Several Hundred Gallons of Water Fall

Wendy’s Taco Salad

All played out and with full stomachs, we decided to catch a nap before the night’s entertainment. The time change helped alot.  As soon as we layed down we were asleep and didn’t wake up until the wake-up call from the front desk.  Getting the kids to wake back up was a chore (6PM here is 4AM in Japan).

Going to the Magic Show

At intermission we bought his magic kit and CD.  Another thing to throw in the closet when we get home.

I’m gonna have a heck of a garage sale someday.

Took a picture of this car because I couldn’t believe it actually ran.  The back lights and bumper were held on

We dried off and realized we were hungry.  We took our big appetites to Wendy’s. We ate big sized food and chocolate shakes.  I have been in Japan too long,  I couldn’t come close to finishing my dinner. We ended up throwing half our food in the trash.
* Note to Japanese people: Say ‘No’ when they offer to Super Size your order.

Nap in the Room
Before the Show

Kirby VanBurch was pretty good.  He played to an obviously christian oriented audience, though.  After every 2 or 3 tricks he would stop and tell stories about his childhood, wonderful parents and a kind and loving Jesus that helped him become the success that he is today.

Couldn’t Believe this Car

with wire and the back left panel was composed of plastic sheeting, pop riveted sheet metel  and some type of putty. The seats were ripped and the tires were bald. And the best part was that it had a dealer sticker licence in the window... which means someone had just bought it and applied for plates. Which of course begged the question of who would buy it.  I wanted to wait for the owners just so I could see them and watch the car move when it drove away... but Mary wouldn’t let me.
